Different Types of Wines

There are many varieties of wines, but all wines are categorize in specific classifications; red, white, sparking and fortified wines. The grapes used in wines are classified by the type and regions they are found in. The are more than 5,000 varieties; most are found in Europe, Canda and United States. The most commonly used grapes in wine are Barbera, Ortega, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Muscadet, and Gamay.

Red Wine
Made with red grapes, red wines sometimes have a bitter, less smooth and dryer taste. The most popular wines are Cabarnet, Sauvignon, Merlot, Red Zinfandel. Red wine is known to reduce heart disease by 30%-50%. Paired with beef, grilled seafood, strong cheeses and chocolate. Served chilled at a temperature of 55-565 degrees.

Sparkling wine is also known as bubbly; when opened carbon dioxide gases release from the bottle, which makes the wine bubble. Usually served for special occasions like weddings and holidays. The most popular of the sparkling wines are Champagne and Dem Perignon. Served chilled at a temperature of 45-55 degrees.

Fortified Wine

I love to drink wine and eat cheese–fancy cheese–lots of variety–and the wine you pick really affects the cheese–very important.
